October 25 the long weekendYan and Allen took me out for a romantic candle light dinner to cheer me up. Deciding where to go, Yan suggested a resturant called Valentino. Frankly, i really hated the name. I thought a restaurant with a name like that had to suck. I wanted to go somewhere else. But she insisted that they have "the best italian food" in town. Plus Allen was really up for it. 2 to 1. I caved.
To my surprise, the restaurant turned out a really nice place. It was tiny, but the space was well used. Relaxing environment and friendly service. Most importantly, the food was so amazing. Allen and I were both blown away. Yan had to have steak. She claimed the steak there to be "the best she ever had". I didn't buy it. So I ordered the day's special, which was a spinach ravioli. I really love spinach ravioli. I get them whenever I can. Allan had a smoked chicken and mushroom fettuccine. And we ordered extra vegetables and fries. it was $89 all together, not including drinks. Pastas there were all under $20, which i thought was reasonable for the amount and quality. The steak was $32, slightly over-priced in my opinion. But I had to admit it is also the best steak i ever tasted. I don't normally order steak in a restaurant because I'm not a big fan of beef. But it was really delicious. However, the steak itself was not the best part. The best part would have to be the mash potato served with it. It was beyond tasty! I guess it's wrong to call it mash potato though, because it was just a chunk of thousands of very thin layers of baked potato. It melted once i put in mouth, and was full of flavors. It was the most delicious mash potato i had in my whole life.
Later that night, we watched "Victoria Secret" in HD on my laptop and "what happens in Vegas" on DVD. The whole thing was a really up-lifting experience. There were a lot of things that were getting me down lately. Food always does a good job cheering me up. And knowing that i've got friends supporting me through things and watching out for me, I rallied.
also got a bag of starbucks coffee bean from yan. they my fav Comments (2)
